Sneaky Possum hitches a ride from Sydney to the Gold Coast!
A young Common Ringtail Possum has had quite the adventure, after hitching a ride more than 800 kilometres while hidden inside a removalist truck.
The 7 and half month-old female travelled from Queenscliff in Sydney, all the way to Palm Beach on the Gold Coast, before being found.
‘Queenie’ was then admitted to Currumbin Wildlife Hospital for a check up, but appears to be in good health.
She’ll spend some time recovering at Currumbin Wildlife Hospital and in foster care, before being transported back to Sydney.
“Queenie is very lucky, she’s been on a long drive without food or water, but fortunately is doing really well. Hopefully she’ll be reunited with her family and friends back in Sydney soon.” – Senior Vet Michael Pyne Currumbin Wildlife Hospital.
Every year Currumbin Wildlife Hospital treats more than 14,000 animals. They provide this service free to the community. On average each animal costs around $1500 to treat, rehabilitate and release.
