Who is Chaddie?
Chaddie is a 16 year old Grey-headed Flying-fox. She was relocated to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary from Healesville Sanctuary in Victoria.
What Are Her Superpowers?
She loves her food! And we love that about her.
FASCINATING FACTS ABOUT Grey-Headed Flying-Foxes
Here are some interest facts about Grey-headed Flying-foxes:
- They live in large colonies called camps; These camps can consist of the 4 different Flying-fox species
- They can travel up to 50 kilometres in one evening in search of food
- They prefer temperate climates.
- They are one of Australia's largest bats with a wingspan of reaching over 1 meter
- Their diet consists of mainly flowering and fruiting plants
- They spread up to 60,000 seeds each night, playing a vital role in keeping native forests healthy
- Due to the destruction of their natural habitat, Flying-foxes are moving into urban areas in search of food

Bats are vital to the environment as they are nocturnal pollinators. They are also known as "flying puppy dogs" or sometimes "fruit bat", and are just an amazing species with beautiful personalities.
