Celebrate Koala Month with koala Karnival
School holidays are just around the corner and when you think kids activities Gold Coast, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is always first on the list!
September is Save the Koala Month! Did you know Koalas have a unique fingerprint just like humans? Or Koala joeys start their life as a very small jelly bean? Koalas are such interesting animals!
The Koala Karnival will encourage kids to come in and learn more about Koalas and take that information away and think about conservation and the way they can help Koalas in the wild.
There will be a lot of activities for kids at the Koala Karnival, the main one being the cool new Koala sticker map! Kids of all ages can go on an adventure through the Sanctuary, learning along the way, finding those points on the map and matching them with their stickers - can you find all the Koalas in the Sanctuary?
There will be lots of Koala keeper talks and you can come in and meet some of our super stars. Our Koala keepers will introduce you to the Koalas in the Koala kindy.
Kids will learn all sorts of exciting facts at the keeper talks such as:
• Learning about them in the wild
• Where they might be found
• What they eat
• Learning about Koala joeys
• How long they live
The daily Koala Talk times are:
• 10.00 am Koala keeper talk and feed
• 2.00 pm Koala keeper talk and feed
The Koala Karnival will encourage kids to come in and learn more about Koalas and take that information and knowledge away to think about how they can help Koalas in the wild.
Teaching kids about Koala conservation is important. Koalas are an umbrella species, and by looking after Koalas, we’re looking after everything else that lives in their environment.
