Un-BEE-lievable BeeS

Native Bees on yellow flower

Why are bees so important?

Nearly everything we eat relies on pollination. Bees are one of the world's most important pollinators! Plus, they produce delicious honey.

What can YOU do to help bees in the wild?

There is so much that you can do, such as:

  • Build a bee box
  • Plant native flowers
  • Learn more about backyard bee keeping

Three Fun facts about Bees

  • Not all bees sting... Almost all Australian ‘social’ native bees are stingless and even solitary Native bees will only sting as a last resort
  • Bees have 2 stomachs; one for food and one for nectar
  • Bees have existed for more than 100 million years

But wait there’s more!

There is so much more to know about the world of Native Bees, which is why we're holding an interactive workshop here at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary about all things bees.

We will cover things like maintaining a beehive, how to attract Native Bees and what to do to keep them healthy & happy. We'll also explain the role of pollinators, difference between Native vs. European Bees and the impact of Varroa destructor. Plus, you'll get to meet one of the 11 social Native Bees!

So, if you love Bees as much as we do, don't miss out on this buzzing opportunity. Limited tickets available.
