Behind the Scenes
Get up close and personal to one of Australia’s biggest icons. Learn about the koala’s features, habitat, reproduction, gum species preferences and other quirky little facts about these gorgeous critters. Meet some of our koala families inside their Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary homes. At the completion of your experience adults can hold one of everyone’s favourite little Aussie legends whilst having a professional photograph to capture your experience.

Terms & Conditions
Children under the age of 12 must have a full paying parent or guardian accompanying on the experience
Participants will need to check in at Visitor Services 30 minutes prior to the experience time
Maximum of 12 guests per experience
All guests must provide up-to-date contact information including name, address & phone number to our team
Sanitizer will be provided & all guests will be required to sanitize hands before & after experience
Social distancing guidelines will need to be adhered to by all guests
All children participating in the experience must be accompanied by a supervising (paying) adult
All guests must follow all instructions given by the keeper and if they fail to do so may be removed from the program and not issued a refund
The program may cease at any given time at the keeper’s discretion
Personal cameras will be allowed to be used during the experience
All participants are required to answer any safety briefing questions asked by the keepers and must inform the keeper of any allergies/reactions prior to participating on this experience
Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary does not take responsibility for any injuries that are received during the experience; first aid will be available on location if required
The price of the program includes one photograph per person. Children will not be able to hold the koala. Children will be given alternative options for photos with the koalas.
Footwear must be worn. No high heels.
Guests will only be able to physically touch the koala if directed by the keepers.
No strollers or umbrellas permitted inside the enclosure
Price does not include admission to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary
Experience times may be subject to change
As part of our Biosecurity Management Plan all participating guests will be issued with an Animal Encounters Authorisation lanyard for the duration of any encounter by the hosting keeper. This is to be worn and displayed for the duration of the encounter.
• To be eligible to participate you must fulfil all criteria set out in our animal encounter guidelines
• Notify us of any health issues you may have that could affect the health of our animals and keepers
• Your behaviour affects the behaviour of our animals - please be respectful and follow all directions from the keeper hosting your encounter at all times
• Please wash your hands upon entering and exiting your animal encounter
