Goodfellow's Tree Kangaroo Conservation
Native to Papua New Guinea, this species is listed as Endangered. Tree Kangaroos are being hunted for food and also being traded for cultural reasons. Loss of habitat is having the effect of adding increased pressure on tree kangaroos in general.
Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary has had good success breeding the Goodfellow’s Tree Kangaroo and will continue to assist this species with further managed care breeding and public education.
Goodfellow’s Tree Kangaroos are arboreal, this means they live high up in the trees.
