This December, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary transforms into a festive family escape where nature and Christmas collide. Meet Blinky Bill & Nutsy the Koalas and the Christmas Fairy, snap your family Christmas photos without the shopping centre crowds, and discover the cheeky elves hiding wild and free throughout the Sanctuary.
Wild Christmas is the easiest, most joyful way to celebrate together – surrounded by wildlife, fresh air and festive cheer.
All included in your Day Tickets. Free for National Trust members. (Astra Lumina is an extra cost)

Meet Blinky and Nutsy
Meet Blinky Bill & Nutsy the Koala and the Christmas Fairy for festive photos at the Pavilion each day from 9:30am – 1:15pm, in scheduled 15-minute sessions (professional photos available for a fee, or snap your own!)

Christmas Fairy Fun & Games
Between photo times, the Christmas Fairy brings the magic – running games, prize giveaways, storytelling and helping kids write letters to Santa! Support our Conservation teams by purchasing much-needed equipment, directly helping our work to save and protect wildlife.

The 12 Wild Elves of Christmas Activity Trail
Twelve cheeky elves have escaped their workshop and gone wild around the Sanctuary! Collect your activity card at the entry gate, follow the clues, find all 12 elves, and return your completed card to Visitor Services before 4pm to receive a festive prize.

Christmas at Astra Lumina
This festive pre-show experience is from 6:15–8:15pm nightly and is the full Christmas experience. Snap a family photo with Santa, meet the Christmas fairy, write letters to Santa shipped straight to the North Pole and make holiday memories under the stars.

Some Impressions from Last Year
FAQ’s
Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is open from 9am to 4pm every day, except ANZAC Day (April 25) and Christmas Day (December 25). Last admissions at 3.30pm daily.
Astra Lumina is open from Wednesday to Saturday with the first sessions starting after dark, which depends on the season.
The Lorikeet feeding is held daily at 8am and 4pm.
The Sanctuary will remain open in light rain. In case of severe weather events, a decision may be made to close the Sanctuary in the interest of guest, animal and staff safety. Our team closely monitors weather and you will be informed if you have purchased a ticket and we have to close due to unsafe weather.
Some activities and/or presentations may be delayed or cancelled in wet weather.
