Get ready to step into the world of Owls and Wedge-tailed Eagles, from the silent world of nocturnal Owls to the breath-taking wingspan of Australia’s largest bird of prey.
Gorilla, the Masked Owl
One of Australia’s most elusive nocturnal raptors
Masked Owls move like shadows, gliding silently through the night to hunt Rats, Possums and small birds.
Their heart-shaped facial disc works like a satellite dish for sound, helping them detect even the faintest movement in total darkness.

Bailey, the Barking Owl
A call that genuinely sounds like a dog
Barking Owls are best known for a call that sounds uncannily like a dog barking. The first time you hear it, you’ll be checking for a dog nearby.
Most active at twilight, they’re just as comfortable hunting day or night. They will take insects, birds, bats and small mammals with quiet, precise strikes.
Say hello to Bailey, the resident Barking Owl, and you might hear that bark for yourself!
Rex, Jesse, Mercedes and Brutus, the Wedge-Tailed Eagles
With wingspans that stop you in your tracks
With wings stretching up to 3 meters, the Wedge-tailed Eagle can soar high above the landscape for hours without a single wing beat.
Their iconic wedge-shaped tail enhances steering, allowing them to command the sky with remarkable agility and control.
The Habitats
Every detail of Raptor Ridge was shaped by one priority: The wellbeing of the animals that live there. The habitats offer generous space for natural flight, open-roof access for sunbathing and rain bathing, ponds for enrichment, shelteredย private areasย for rest, and ventilation that keeps the environment fresh and stimulating.
Owl Habitats
In this nocturnal space, soft lighting reveals the Owls going about their nightly routines just an arm’s length away. It’s quiet, it’s still, and it’s like nothing else you’ve experienced. Next door, daylight brings a different kind of magic, where you can observe their natural behaviours unfold right before your eyes.
Eagle Free Flight Zone
Raptor Ridge’s centrepiece is a soaring 8-metre-high free flight aviary, built to give Wedge-tailed Eagles real airspace and the elevated vantage points they seek in the wild. Watch these iconic ambassadors glide, perch and survey their surroundings. Look up, it’s a rare chance to see them fly.
Quokka Nook
