This isn’t a typical photo-op; it’s a slow-paced walk where you can observe, not intrude, capturing breathtaking moments as Koalas lounge and snooze among the treetops. Along the way, knowledgeable Wildlife Keepers will share fascinating insights into how Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is protecting this treasured species for generations to come.

Fun Fact
Koalas sleep up to 20 hours a day! Their diet of eucalyptus leaves is low in energy, so they spend most of their time resting to conserve it.

The encounter is open to all ages, but children under 3 years are to be held by a paying parent for this encounter.
No children under the age of 13 are to book on this encounter without a paid parent in the same session.
Please allow at least 15 minutes to travel from the front entrance to your encounter location.
Wheelchairs, wheelie walkers or other aids will be allowed inside the habitat. Prams will not be allowed and can be left at the briefing area to be collected upon exit from habitat
Sanctuary entry is not included in this booking and all participants must have valid Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary General Admission to gain entry.
Touching of animals is only permitted at the discretion of the Wildlife Keeper facilitating the encounter and is not guaranteed during the encounter.
Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary may cancel the encounter at any time. Rescheduling of encounters may be available through Visitor Services 07 5534 0879.
Photography on personal devices is permitted, and we encourage guests to take and share selfies with their friends. No selfie sticks please.
If you have any allergies or anaphylaxis, please bring this to our attention before you participate in this experience.
This encounter operates in all weather conditions, including rain. In the event of unsafe weather, we may need to pause or cancel the encounter for the safety of guests, animals and staff.
As part of our Biosecurity Management Plan all participating guests will be issued with an Animal Encounters Authorisation lanyard for the duration of any encounter by the hosting keeper.
This is to be worn and displayed for the duration of the encounter.
To be eligible to participate you must fulfil all criteria set out in our animal encounter guidelines.
Notify us of any health issues you may have that could affect the health of our animals and keepers.
Your behaviour affects the behaviour of our animals - please be respectful and follow all directions from the keeper hosting your encounter at all times.
Please wash your hands upon entering and exiting your animal encounter.
