Meet the Bush Stone Curlew

Our Bush Stone Curlews are funny and friendly birds known for their big eyes, long legs, and unique calls that sound like a spooky ghost.

But don’t worry, they’re not scary at all.

You can find them in Australia, where they like to hide during the day and come out at night to feed on insects and small vertebrates, including frogs, lizards, snakes and mice.

Fun Fact

When they’re scared, they freeze like statues and think they’re invisible. Baby curlews do this too, looking like little statues.
