Shows & Encounters

Bird show time change

The morning WildSkies Bird Show will start earlier on Friday, 27 March. The new show start time is 10am (instead of 10.45am). Please arrive early if you plan on catching this show.

Cancelled keeper talks and encounters

The following keeper talks and encounters are cancelled on Friday, 27 March: Radiated Tortoise Keeper Talk, Currumbin Wildlife Hospital Presentation, Tasmanian Keeper Talk and Close Encounters – Owl photos.

Mini Trains

Amended hours

On Friday, 27 March, there will be no trains operating between 10.30am and 1pm. Outside of these hours, the mini trains will run as usual.

Closure – no trains running

From 16 – 20 March (Monday to Friday inclusive), no trains are operating due to essential track works. Thanks for your understanding. We can’t wait to welcome you back on board soon.

Weekly maintenance

Every Wednesday from 9am – 12pm, the trains don’t operate due to weekly track maintenance (except during Queensland school holidays). After 12pm, the usual train schedule resumes.

Temporarily not running: Dino-Mite Explorer Show

The Dino-Mite Explorer Show is currently not running until further notice, while the explorers are on an adventure to get some technical issues sorted. Thanks for your understanding and check back here soon for more updates.

Dining & Retail

Restaurant closure

The Homestead will be closed on Friday, 27 March due to a private event.

Retail outlet amended opening hours

Conservation HQ will close at 10am and re-open at 11.45am on Friday, 27 March.

Attractions

Kangaroo Paddock closure

The Kangaroo Paddock is taking a quick break for essential works on Friday 24th October during morning hours. More updates coming soon.

Lost Valley Aviary closed

The Lost Valley Aviary is closed all day Wednesday 14th January. You can still visit the Capybaras, Jerry & Elaine, Zeya the Red Panda, Enam the Binturong, and the Cotton-top Tamarin brothers Pablo & Arami.

Weekly maintenance

Wild Island Splash Zone remains closed until 11am every Thursday due to weekly cleaning and maintenance. After 11am, the attraction is open and running as normal.

FAQs

What are Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary's opening hours?

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is open from 9am to 4pm every day, except ANZAC Day (April 25) and Christmas Day (December 25). Last admissions at 3.30pm daily.

Astra Lumina is open every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday with additional days during school holidays. The trail opens once last light has faded.

The Lorikeet feeding is held daily at 8am and 4pm.

Is there car parking available at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary?

Yes, there is a large car park opposite the main entrance on Tomewin Street, Currumbin. The car park is open from 7.30am - 5.30pm daily. 

Parking is $10 per car for all-day parking. Parking is free for National Trust of Australia (Queensland) members. 

What if I need to change my booking?

We understand that plans can change. To amend your booking, such as the date of your visit, please contact our amazing Guest Experience superstars at hello@cws.org.au. Please include your ticket booking ID, which you can find in the Booking Ticket attachment of your confirmation email.
