Let the Nature Ed Team show your Junior Ranger how intriguing our slithering and hopping species are!
Come face-to-face with scaly reptiles and slimy amphibians that call Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary home. Learn interesting facts about them and discover why they’re important to our environment. Participants will journey through the Sanctuary and be able to apply their newly learnt skills during a creative craft session at the end.

Most fly, some walk and run…But all of the feathered friends here at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary have something in common: they’re unique and wildly majestic!
Get up close to the cheeky, colourful and mighty birds here at the Sanctuary, learn interesting facts about them and what you can do at home to encourage a feathered friend to visit. Learn about habitats for birds and the role of native plants – participants will get the opportunity to get their hands dirty and pot their own native plant to take home, to hopefully attract more feathered friends!

Magic Mammals

Australia is known for its unique native mammals, such as the Koala or Kangaroo. But did you know there are two different types of mammals?
Learn about the difference between monotreme and placental mammals while coming face-to-face with some of Australia’s most iconic mammals such as Koalas, Kangaroos, Dingoes or Bilbies. Hear fascinating facts about nocturnal mammals and meet some of the lesser known species such as Ghost Bats. This experience will get your Junior Ranger in the know about native animals!

Become a wildlife hero and learn what you can do to help threatened species!
Sadly, threatened species are part of the natural landscape. The good news? We can help animals that need it most with only a few small changes in our daily lives! This program is for all Junior Rangers who want to find out more about endangered species in Australia and what they can do to help. Kids will meet some well known threatened species such as the Koala, as well as lesser known threatened species, learn about the importance of conservation and become a wildlife hero!

The Exotics: Animals from Afar

Want to learn more about the exotic animals here at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary? While we love our native animals, we are also proud to provide a habitat to our wildlife cousins from other corners of the globe!
In this wild adventure, participants will get up close to exotic animals from afar such as Capybaras, Binturongs and Red Pandas, and learn fascinating facts about them. We will uncover some of the differences between native Australian and exotic animals during an interactive game, have time to get crafty and learn that conservation is more than just an Australian issue…it’s a global one!

Insight into Zookeeping (Teens) - Program starts at 8.15am, registration starts at 8am at the Village Green
Junior Rangers (5-8 year olds) Pick up is at 12pm at Village Green, located to the left of the main entrance for programs from Monday to Thursday. On Friday, pick up is at 12pm inside the Lorikeet Arena.
Sanctuary Rangers (9-12 year olds) Pick up is at 3pm at the Village Green (Monday to Thursday), located to the left of the main entrance. On Friday, pick up is from the Lorikeet Arena at 3pm.
Insight into Zookeeping (Teens) Pick up is at 3:30pm at the Village Green (Monday to Thursday), located to the left of the main entrance. On Friday, pick up is from the Lorikeet Arena at 3:30pm.
Little Pollinators - Pick up is at 10:45am at Village Green.
Native Bee Explorers - Pick up is at 12:00pm at Village Green.
Yes! Please pack some snacks and reusable water bottle. We will provide everything else needed to complete the program. Make sure you pack light as there will be plenty of walking throughout the program.
Make sure your child wears enclosed shoes. We also recommend bringing a hat, sun care and insect repellent.
Absolutely! We often have parents or guardians that will buy an entry ticket and enjoy their day while their child is doing the holiday program. There are plenty of things to see and do for the grown ups too!
Please note, parents or guardians can't join their child's group.
We dance in the rain! No, but in all seriousness, programs will go ahead in the event of light rain. We suggest packing a raincoat especially in wetter months. Please note that umbrellas are not allowed inside the Sanctuary for safety reasons. We will contact you if the program gets cancelled due to unsafe weather.
