Understanding our local Mammals in care
This weekend mammal course will dive into the many aspects of our local mammal species. Expert keepers and specialists will go into depth on identification, husbandry, rescue, first aid and rehabilitation as well as management of illness and disease. This course aims to expand your knowledge on our most well-known and loved locals.

Native Bee Workshop
Intrigued to know how you can attract more bees to your garden and help them thrive? Dive into a 3-hour hands-on workshop and learn all you need to know about bees!
Topics covered include native bee biology, solitary bees, backyard bee keeping, making your garden native bee-friendly, and how to create your very own bee box. Tickets include free honey tasting and all day entry to the Sanctuary.

Understanding Animal Training & Behaviour
HOW TO COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR FAMILY PET WORKSHOP
Would you like to communicate with your furry, feathered or scaly family pet? Join us and discover how we train our animal ambassadors on a daily basis through positive reinforcement. From enrichment to medical care, we will provide you with the information and training demonstrations to effectively train almost any animal! Make the most of this incredible opportunity and join us at the Sanctuary!

Aussie Wildlife Course
This is an introductory, 8-week evening course developed to train enthusiastic members of our community to provide emergency care for sick, injured or orphaned native wildlife. Covering birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians the focus is on local species identification, basic handling and restraint, temporary housing, health and safety for both animals and people.
This course is suitable for everyone from school students to retirees. It is aimed for anyone wanting to gain experience prior to engaging in the care of wildlife, or embarking on further education or a career working with wildlife.
Age Requirement: 14 years and over with parent consent
Date & Time: Every Wednesday 6pm - 8:30pm from 16th October - 4th December 2024

Advanced Aussie Wildlife Course
Following on from the Aussie Wildlife Course comes the new Advanced Course, presented by Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary’s veterinarians and hospital staff. Using the Currumbin Wildlife Hospital facilities, the advanced course will explore the unique anatomy and physiology of Australia’s wildlife. This course is conducted as a 4 week evening course from 6pm to 8:30pm.
Age Requirement: 16 years and over with parent consent. Must have completed the Aussie Wildlife course or have prior experience.

The Reptile and Amphibian Captive Management Course
This weekend course is designed for those with a keen interest in seeking knowledge and understanding of Reptiles and Amphibian identification, legislation and relevant government bodies, basic taxonomy, captive-husbandry needs and maintenance, health, nutrition and reproduction of reptiles.
Age Requirement: 14 years and over with parent consent.

Avian Husbandry, Rehabilitation and Hand Rearing Course
This weekend course is specially designed for the bird enthusiasts and zoo professionals who are serious about birds and want to expand their knowledge on aviculture/avian husbandry, rehabilitation and hand rearing.
