National Trust - Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary are very proud to have been awarded the ‘2018 Gold Coast Business Excellence Award’ in the category of ‘Student Employability’. In addition, we have been State Finalists in the Queensland Training Awards for both 2018 and 2019, based in part upon the success of our School Based Traineeship program. We welcome the energy, passion and skills that high school students contribute to our business operations and have several opportunities on offer.

SCHOOL BASED TRAINEESHIPS

Over the last 7 years, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary has successfully engaged almost 200 School Based Trainees. The trainees work one day per week here at the Sanctuary to learn on-the-job work skills, and theory to gain a qualification at Certificate 3 Level.

The School Based Traineeship Program is open to Year 10 and 11 high school students. These traineeships are paid roles, but are by invitation only, and places are limited. We take great pride in offering this learning opportunity to upskill motivated young school students, so you can ‘Earn while you Learn’ and kick start your career journey.

In 2020, we are offering School Based Traineeships in BSB30115 Certificate III in Business which includes work in the following departments: Food and Beverage outlets, Retail stores, Visitor & Member Services, Marketing and Admin Support services.

If you are a  current high school student on the Gold Coast, the Career Centre at your school or your Industry Liaison Officer will have details available of our current vacancies.

PLEASE NOTE: We do not offer School Based Traineeships in any animal related roles
