Traineeships

National Trust Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary are very proud to have been awarded the ‘2018 Gold Coast Business Excellence Award’ in the category of ‘Student Employability’. In addition, we have been State Finalists in the Queensland Training Awards for both 2018 and 2019, based in part upon the success of our School Based Traineeship program. We welcome the energy, passion and skills that high school students contribute to our business operations.

SCHOOL BASED TRAINEESHIPS

Over the last 10 years, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary has successfully engaged over 250 School Based Trainees. As a trainee, you will work one day per week here at the Sanctuary to learn on-the-job work skills, and also study on site at your school with a Trainer from Aurora Training Institute to gain a qualification at Certificate 3 Level.

The School Based Traineeship Program is open to Year 10 and 11 high school students. These traineeships are paid roles and are awarded by a selection process so places are limited. We take great pride in offering this learning opportunity to upskill motivated young school students, so you can ‘Earn while you Learn’ and kick start your career journey.

We offer School Based Traineeships in BSB30120 Certificate 3 in Business which includes work in the following departments: Food and Beverage outlets, Retail stores, Guest Services, Marketing and Business Administration Support services. These work skills will provide you with great career opportunities across multiple industries. Plus, this Cert III qualification is equivalent to your Year 12 QCE qualification. Also, your successful completion will also qualify you for entry to certain University Courses after you finish school – So many benefits to be gained!!

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is a culturally safe space and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students are encouraged to apply.

If you are a current high school student on the Gold Coast, more details will be available from your school Career Centre or Industry Liaison Officer.
PLEASE NOTE: We do not offer School Based Traineeships in any animal related roles.

Our next School Based Traineeship INFORMATION NIGHT will be held on Tuesday 9th May 2023 at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. RSVPs are essential. Please click the button below to RSVP via email:
