Do you have a kid that loves to help local wildlife thrive in the wild, just like us? Then this Native Bee workshop is for them! Available for kids aged 5 to 8 years, 9 to 12 years and 13 to 16 years, they will get to taste honey, learn about the cultural significance of bees, discover a bee’s life cycle, and so much more.

This workshop is for our youngest bee enthusiasts! Kids aged 5 to 8 can learn about native, stingless bees such as discovering their life cycle and the connections between native bees and First Nation peoples’. There will also be plenty of time to taste honey and get creative with colouring in sheet and planting native bee-friendly seeds to take home.

Become a ‘Native Bee Explorer’! In this workshop, kids aged 9 to 12 get to explore a typical nest, learn how to identify bee-friendly plants and discover connections between native bees and First Nations peoples’. Kids will also make their very own bee mobile and mini didgeridoo as well as plant native bee-friendly seeds to take home. Plus, of course, taste delicious honey!

Native Bee Explorers Teens

Do you have a teen passionate about native bees and wildlife studies? This workshop is for them! Teens aged 13 to 16 will get to explore a typical nest, study a native bee’s life cycle and classify organisms through a microscope. Teens will also learn about the connections between native bees and Frist Nations peoples’, bee-friendly plants and make their own basket with beeswax as a sealant. Plus, plant a native bee-friendly tube stock to take home and taste delicious honey.

Yes! Please pack some snacks and reusable water bottle. We will provide everything else needed to complete the program. Make sure you pack light as there will be plenty of walking throughout the program.
Make sure your child wears enclosed shoes. We also recommend bringing a hat, sun care and insect repellent.
Absolutely! We often have parents or guardians that will buy an entry ticket and enjoy their day while their child is doing the holiday program. There are plenty of things to see and do for the grown ups too!
Please note, parents or guardians can't join their child's group.
We dance in the rain! No, but in all seriousness, programs will go ahead in the event of light rain. We suggest packing a raincoat especially in wetter months. Please note that umbrellas are not allowed inside the Sanctuary for safety reasons. We will contact you if the program gets cancelled due to unsafe weather.
