about the experience

The Astra Lumina trail opens from 5.45pm. Doors and our beautiful Welcome Zone open one hour earlier at 4.45pm, where you can relax by the fire and purchase delicious treats and drinks before starting your cosmic adventure.

This is a self-paced experience, so you can begin anytime after the Astra Lumina trail opens but note that final entry to the trail is strictly 8pm. Please arrive by no later than 7.40pm to allow time to check in and walk from the car park to the Welcome Zone.

Guests usually take around 60 – 90 minutes, but this is a self-paced experience. There is no time limit, take as long or little as you like! We recommend making use of the benches along the trail to pause and fully take it all in. Every cosmic zone tells a magical story.

This experience is for anyone looking for something unique and different to do on the Gold Coast after dark, with or without kids. It’s perfect for wonder seekers, special date nights, a fun friends’ night out or an exciting activity for the whole family.

Astra Lumina Gold Coast is located within Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary at 28 Tomewin Street, Currumbin. Free car parking is available and also easily accessible by public transport. Please see directions here.

The trail is sloping in places and is comprised of sealed and unsealed surfaces. Due to inclines across the trail, Astra Lumina is not recommended for people using a manual wheelchair. Electric wheelchairs may be used, but please ensure the battery is fully charged and can last for the entire duration of the experience.

Come excited, leave relaxed and inspired! Astra Lumina Gold Coast is a unique after-dark experience, different to anything you can find to do on the Gold Coast. It’s an approximately 1.5km long trail going through Australian native bushland, that guides you on a starlit journey filled with the magic of light, sound and projection. There are nine zones to discover along your walk, all telling a mesmerising story about the wonders of the stars.

No, Astra Lumina Gold Coast is a separate ticketed experience. However, Sanctuary guests can enjoy discounted same-day upgrades to do the experience either the same evening or on another day. Look out for the QR codes located throughout the Sanctuary or speak with our Guest Experience team to arrange your upgrade.

Yes, there is! Our local Currumbin Beach Vikings Club is only a 5 min walk around the corner from us with amazing views of the ocean and Surfers Paradise. On Fridays, you can also enjoy the famous Sanctuary Markets with various food trucks and live music, right at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.

Yes, our food truck opens one hour before the trail opens, where you can purchase delicious foods and drinks. Arrive early to enjoy them and fuel up for your starlit journey. You can check out our menu here.

Yes, you are welcome to bring your own food. Please note Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is licensed and no BYO alcohol is allowed. This is a walking experience, so please do not bring eskies or picnics.

For the safety and enjoyment of all guests, please do not bring pets, bikes, scooters, drones, glass or alcohol to Astra Lumina Gold Coast.

This is an outdoor experience through native bushland. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and closed toed shoes. Umbrellas are allowed on the trail, but please be courteous of other guests when using them.

The well-being of the animals in the Sanctuary is our highest priority, and we have taken extensive steps to ensure their safety and comfort. This enchanting bushland trail offers an immersive, nighttime journey through a previously unutilised section of our 27-hectare property, separate from our wildlife habitats. Astra Lumina Gold Coast has undergone extensive planning and consultation with wildlife and environmental experts.

Astra Lumina will remain open in most rainy conditions. However, if Astra Lumina can’t be held due to inclement or unsafe weather, we will contact any ticket holders via email or SMS and a refund will automatically be processed back to the original payment method.

Yes, there are restrooms at the start and the end of the Astra Lumina trail.

Absolutely! We would love to see you enjoying your experience and invite you to share your content with us @astralumina_gc #AstraLuminaGoldCoast – for safety, please don’t bring tripods or monopods, and flash photography is not permitted.

Yes, walk-ins are welcome! However, tickets might be sold out by the time you arrive, so we recommend booking in advance. You also save $5 on every ticket if you purchase them online. Get tickets here.

We don’t offer refunds if you booked the wrong date or your plans have changed, except in situations when Astra Lumina is cancelled by us due to weather or any other unprecedented reason.

Yes. If you would like to change your tickets to a different date, please email our Guest Experience superstars at hello@cws.org.au and we will be happy to help. Please include your ticket booking ID, which you can find in the Booking Ticket attachment of your confirmation email.

Sure can! You can have Astra Lumina and Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary exclusively to yourself and your guests for a magical birthday party, social gathering or corporate function. You can submit an enquiry here.

Astra Lumina Gold Coast includes flashing lights, lasers and theatrical fog.

Guide, Hearing and Assistance Dogs are welcome, however, due to Queensland Biosecurity restrictions and the safety of Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary animals, only certified service dogs under the Guide, Hearing and Assistance Dog Act 2009 are permitted on the premises. 

Please contact our Guest Experience team at hello@cws.org.au to provide proof of certification and current vaccination details of the assistance dog prior to arrival. We request at least 48 hours’ notice to ensure consultation with our Wildlife Hospital staff to review the documents.

Accompanied handlers or trainers must provide proof of certification and current vaccination for their service dog. We ask that dogs wear their working vest or cloth identifying their role at all times.

Assistance dogs that are trained with a bark response can cause a fright/flight reaction amongst our animals and may not be granted access to certain areas of Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.
