Stuck for something out of this world to dress up as this Halloween…here’s a list of cosmic costume ideas!

  1. Cosmic explorer – an epic chance to blend adventurous space travel vibes with futuristic and rugged gear. Try a metallic or reflective jumpsuit, silver or black. Bonus for glow in the dark or neoprene materials.
  2. Alien – you can be creepy, cute, futuristic, or totally out-of-this-world weird! Try a green, grey or silver suit. Bonus, speak in “bleep bloop” sounds or act confused by Earth customs.
  3. Planet – use a foam ring or hula hoop structure around your body with painted fabric stretched over. Paint your face with matching colors or galaxy designs.
  4. Space cowboy/girl – yeehaa, think cowboy hats meet space helmets, leather meets metallic, and boots with a cosmic twist and silver and gold elements.
  5. Shooting Star – sparkly, dynamic, and magical! Use a headband with a gold star, add a trail of cosmic sparkles and glitter.
  6. Scary space bat -think alien horror meets gothic creatures of the void. You can make it creepy, cosmic, and theatrical, blending bat-like features with eerie extraterrestrial elements.
  7. Cosmic Witch – Dressing as a Cosmic Witch is all about channeling the power of the stars, galaxies, and ancient space magic. Your vibe can be mysterious, regal, eerie, or radiant and totally spellbinding.
  8. Astronaut of the future – Think beyond NASA, imagine what an intergalactic traveler or Mars colonist might wear in 100+ years.
  9. Rocket – Use silver fabric, cardboard, or foam board to make a rocket-shaped body tube.
  10. Meteor – You want to capture that fiery, rock-from-space vibe. Add textured materials like crumpled foil, faux rock panels, or foam pieces painted like asteroid surfaces.

Great news – Kids who are dressed up will get into Trick or Treat Week at Astra Lumina for free! (with a paying adult) We can’t wait to see you all of your amazing costumes.

Did you know? The history of Halloween…

Halloween is usually celebrated on October 31, and there are a few theories as to how it all began. Some say the event dates back to ancient Celtic times, when villagers would light bonfires and wear costumes to scare away ghosts to mark the end of harvest. Another theory is that traditions were developed to remember the spirits. Over time it gradually developed into trick or treating and costumes parties and is now celebrated all over the world.
