Big Feathers. Big Attitudes.

Cockatoos, the real characters of the Bird world! Full of personality, super smart and always up for a bit of fun. These bushland chatterboxes are known for their playful antics and strong social bonds, and you’ll often hear them long before you spot them.

Around the Sanctuary, keep your eyes (and ears!) open for a colourful cast of Cockatoo species. Say hello to the fluffy-headed Gang-gang Cockatoo, the majestic Red- and Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos, the loud and proud Sulphur-crested Cockatoo, and of course, the cheekiest of them all, the Galah.

Want to see them in full flight? Don’t miss the WildSkies Free Flight Bird Show, where many of these feathered ambassadors take to the sky in an unforgettable display.

Fun Fact

Cockatoos are very clever and can solve puzzles, use tools, and even figure out how to open cages.

A dark-feathered black cockatoo with a prominent crest perches on a branch, surrounded by dry twigs and blurred foliage in the background.
